The Black CPA Centennial named the recipients Tuesday of the almost $100,000 it dedicated to giving to 100 Black accounting college students to allow them to review to grow to be CPAs.

Again in March the group — which incorporates the Illinois CPA Society, the American Institute of CPAs, the Nationwide Affiliation of Black Accountants, the Nationwide Society of Black CPAs, the Various Group of Corporations and others — sought out candidates for the scholarships to commemorate the centennial of the primary Black CPA, John W. Cromwell Jr., in 1921 (see story). The $93,500 raised through the Black CPA Centennial celebration final 12 months are being distributed as scholarships to supply monetary assist for bills associated to making ready for or taking the CPA examination, together with school tuition towards CPA eligibility, associated classroom supplies, CPA examination preparation programs, CPA examination software charges, tutors and extra.

“Our intent was to assist pave the best way for extra Black people to pursue the CPA credential and reach a extra various and inclusive CPA occupation,” stated ICPAS president and CEO Todd Shapiro in a press release. “The 100 scholarships we’ve been capable of award, in honor of the 100-year commemoration, are going on to deserving college students and professionals to supply significant monetary help to every of them as they attempt to beat their distinctive monetary boundaries throughout their pursuit of the coveted CPA credential.”
